Does anyone remember when Andy Barberi used to stand on that wooden platform with a baseball in his hand and the gym class would be sitting across on the floor by the folded up bleachers? He would be giving one his lectures (probably something the B. of E. forced him to do occaisionally) and if one of us squirmed or started busting chops he would let fly with that baseball right above our heads.
I remember "borrowing" a spoon from the lunchroom and shinnying up
the cable on the wall in the locker room where the bell was attached
and ringing it 10minutes early before the end of the last period so
so that we could bust out of there early. I got away with it a few
times...but the last time, as I got back to the ground, Andy was
waiting for me...he took the spoon from me, and said "you want to hear
bells?" and played a tune on my head with the spoon. I deserved it...
but I wonder today if he could of got away with it...I can see some
parent bringing charges of "brutality" and sueing the school. (Not
that my father would've, he would've gave me twice what Andy did for
misbehaving!)...DAN
