Bob: I had the pleasure (although I didn't think so at the time) to play football for "The Coach". Andy was one one the most impressionable people in my life. I can vividly remember the "pep talk" before the Curtis/New Dorp game on Thanksgiving Day 1959. The year they were the City champs.

He actually cried in the locker room and we actually won the game. I still, to this day, don't know if it was a psychological ploy on his part. But in any event it worked. I'll never forget that day as long as I live.

BTW: The members of the football team didn't go to gym class, and even have their schedules tailored so we could be at practice as early as possible.

The best years of my life: Curtis High School 09/56 thru 06/60.

Do you remember his favorite nickname for practically everyone was? HINT: seven letters, begins with "L" and ends with "S"

Regards Bob C.
