Bob: I can remember being in Ross Terrelle's house and watching his grandma(?) make homemade raviolis from scratch. We're talking here about making the dough, cutting into shape and stuffing the raviolis by hand with cheese and spinach. I remember there was a pasta shop on Jersey st. where you could go in and by Ronzoni pasta products by the number...nothing else was sold in the store. Wasn't there also an espresso bar somewhere where the older Italian men could go in and schmooz, read the Italian newspaper and maybe get a shot of grappa? All this was before the yuppies discovered making pasta at home and that espresso was "cool"! Why don't you post a "Nostrivia" about Jersey St/New Brighton in those days?
Street Jocks: my younger "Jockhood" was in West New Brighton and also Cromwell Center...see Nostrivia#19...answers...question#3
Ciao, DAN
