Every once in a while, someone asks, on this page, if the S.I. Advance is on line, or if not, why not? An awful lot of ex-S.I.ers would like to know the answers to that, too.
It's been pretty well established that staffers at the ADVANCE visit this page and the Nostrivia page, and have even used some of the information they see here (so I'm told) in the paper.
DON'T GET ME WRONG! I think it's wonderful that the ADVANCE staff is smart enough to come here for information. MY COMPLAINT is that we can't go there (an ADVANCE web site) for the same purpose.
Therefore, I'd like to introduce the Staten Island Advance's staff and all the rest of you to a brand new web-site in the town where I live. Please go to: http://www.grandhavenlive.com/. This is the new web-site of the Grand Haven (Michigan) Tribune. The Tribune is a daily newspaper serving Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Ferrysburg and surrounding townships in North-West Ottawa County, Michigan. I suspect that the total population of the above area is considerably smaller than the total population of Staten Island. Just the same, the Grand Haven Tribune has made the effort to put up what I think is a first class site and the Staten Island Tribune (again, in my personal opinion) should be ashamed of themselves for not doing the same. Are you listening, ADVANCE? A small community in Western Michigan is more advanced than a New York City daily. Perhaps the S.I. paper should not be called the S.I. Advance, after all. Any suggestions for a new name for the S.I. Advance?
