Beau now I know why I enjoyed talking with you on chat the first time the other night. I too, missed the feel of the country that Staten Island gave me as a child at Four Corners. This was in the late twenties on through the war years of the forties. Then they took away our playing fields and built up with red brick row houses. {but this gave old rs a place to move to so it can't have been too bad} When finally settling down to retire, we chose Placerville, California because the evergreen trees and mild climate at this elevation was comfortable, but the small town atmosphere is so much like the Staten Island of our childhood. My husband is a native of the Westerleigh area of the Island.
Enjoy it, this is building up too fast now, and time marches on.
