Great Kills is where the Great Kills SIRT staten is. It sits astride magnificent Amboy Road between Bay Terrace on the north and Eltigville on the south. Most of it surrounds a beautiful body of water named Jack's Pond where we used to catch snapping turtles and pollywogs in the summer and go skating in the winter. Sometimes we even went swimming in the winter if we were too anxious to wait for the ice to thicken. The biggest stars I ever saw, appeared one day when I was skating and my feet shot out from under me and I fell flat on my back, the back of my head hitting the ice before the rest of me. Beautiful shooting stars!
I met a beautiful girl while we both worked for T.W.A. in Manhattan. We decided to get married and (this was after the VZ bridge was built) decided we'd rather raise a family in the woods of Western Michigan than on S.I. So, 33 years ago, we moved here and now have three grown children and three grandchildren. But I don't like Michigan winters. Too many cloudy days. Depressing. So I'm considering moving to Colorado (perhaps) when I retire in about 7 years.
