Your note says it all. After reading all the moaning and complaining that people do on the Net, your comments are a breath of fresh air and a hymn of praise for Staten Island to everyone who reads them.

As for showing your appreciation, get involved in the community. Whether you donate time or money, help support some of the organizations that contribute to SI's quality of life. And when you don't like something, let your elected officials know. Those are the things that keep communities strong.

By the way, I'm also a life-long Islander who loves it; at least, I can't imagine any other place in the NY metro area I would rather live.
