Thanks for the butterfly kisses. It reminds me of the birthday present my daughter gave me this year. She drew two pictures taken from photos of me hugging her. One was when she was a baby and the other was recent. Inside this drawing she put a pocket and in the pocket was a tape. I played the tape as I drove to work that day and when I heard the loving poems she wrote about our relationship, my eyes filled with tears and I could hardly see my exit.
The hard work containing the negative tapes that play in my head; the difficult decisions to be firm and insist on her developing resourcefulness, and the time it takes to talk through trying and emotional issues all seem worthwhile when this kind of spontaneous loving comes out.
