You are right, I stand corrected, it is in the bill of rights and is the 4th ammendment, it reads as follows:
Article the fourth [Amendment II]
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
I do not like guns nor do I have one, but this is a basic freedom that should not be taken away since history clearly shows that the peoples right to live free has always been impacted by government control. We are blessed to live in a country where this is not the case. This could also be a result of the Bill of Rights where the founding fathers had the wisdom to understand that this could be a problem in the future and set up this right as notice to future leaders and or dictators.
