My recommendation is the same as Cheryl's (Labrador Retreiver).
I own a Chocolate Lab (she'll be 10 in June) and everything Cheryl said is absolutely true. A wonderful, intelligent breed.
My one suggestion is to buy your dog from a registered breeder.
