Right on Lee. You brought uP a very good point...the kids. WOW!!! Thinking about now I'm Italian, French, (more) Argentine, German, (more) English and American Indian + by injection LOL via my x and I'm told mix in a little Irish, Scottish, South African & German, Spaniard. Now, when asked "what nationality are you" wouldn't my kids or yours sound silly saying.
They are: English,Argentine,Italian,French,Germany,Irish,Scottis,Spaniard,So.African,American Indian - AMERICAN. Now with a mouth full of heritage like that wouldn't my kids sound a bit RIDICULOUS? Their pride is in being an AMERICAN and behind that they are proud to disclose and discuss all their heritage with anyone who might ask.
I think it's time we ALL got on the "I'm AMERICAN" band wagon and start walking TALL & PROUD into a better future for this country without all the "pre-tags" as I call them.
Another point would be: with all the "shades of skin tone" connected to many of our heritage...how about "I'm A HUMAN BEING" not tagged by a color coordinated tag of match or mismatch. I feel this would give us all a chance to finally choose to like or not like a person based on their being a "Human being" that we want to bother with or not.
I hold no appology to what I express in this arena. As I said in a prior post "I never knew the color of my friends, till it was pointed out to me by a black bigot who exposed they had a problem with their color by constantly referring to me as - you white"
I am proud that I am an * & a * ...........
