There is never any one solution to such a great problem. Yes, I believe we need tighter gun control laws. I don't think anyone should be allowed to build up an arsenal. Exactly how many hunting rifles does one need? I also believe parents should not depend on the government to censor what their children watch. I grew up watching the 3 Stooges, Superman, cartoons, etc. but I attended Mass every Sunday and learned from my parents what is real and what isn't. There were certain programs I was not allowed to watch. Parents need to be parents and not worry about being their child's best friend. They need to pay attention to what their children don't say and do as well as what they say and do. I think children need to be taught at a very young age what responsibility is involved in having a child. If you are not willing to put your child first, don't have children. If you think you can have a child at 13 and leave it with mom while you go out on Friday and Saturday night -- forget it!! Becoming a mom or dad biologically is the easy part -- being a parent is the hard part. I didn't have a "Leave it to Beaver" childhood, but I can say that my parents gave me, and my siblings, everything they had. I didn't see it or appreciate it til I hit my 20s, but now that I'm 40 I thank them and God every chance I get.
