Whewwww! Art that was an emotional one. Your road in life has not been peaches & cream for sure. The "care taker" role in an alcoholic family is not an easy task, it can bury wonderful good emotions deep inside creating much fear and anger. I venture to say that allowing yourself to become vunerable and "dump baggage" has set you on a path of "emotional availability" bringing forth a whole new life of adventures for you & your family. My personal belief is that people don't change...they choose to learn the new and become open, allowing themselves to GROW. Just like a plant the old stuff falls off making way for new stems & blossoms. ACOA (Adult Children Of Alcoholic) is filled with emotion & discovery. It is one of the strongest support groups in the process recovery "It Works If "U" Work It".
Art I know you're new to chat and quickly have discovered that this can be a tough bunch at times. I think it goes like this "you can please all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but not all of the people all of the time". My experience has been that taking a RISK to express ones thoughts & feelings on the web site is often a BIGGY. The beauty of this posting area is that one can always explain further if needed to clarify the true meaning. I know for myself I had to stop worrying about the grammar, spelling & typos of it and just gooooooooo for it. I would have still been sitting on the side lines being a non-participant reader. I found it's more risky to post & for sure more fun & challenging.
Art "keep coming back kid" your GROWTH is valued and important here.
