Art -
In another posting, you asked me to try to remember the name of the P.S. 30 science teacher in the "Department". The closest I can come is something like Berenson or Adleson or some phonic combination of the two. I graduated in 1944 and gradustion then really felt like a rite of passage. All boys were required to wear a blue suit and this was the first time we had worn long dress trousers. The girls were required to wear white dresses and they all looked beautiful and unapproachable. After graduation we were all parcelled out to high schools according to abilities and skills - eg those who tested high in math and science had the opportunity to go to Brooklyn Tech. A friend of mine who shares your last name went there - Frank Anderson - and went on to become a dock builder. I believe '44 was the year the educators tried an experiment: They took a percentage of the graduating class and put us in an accellerated program at Port Richmond which was designed to have us graduate in 3 years. I, of course, set out to prove it impossible and succeeded.
