In the early 1960's I was proud to have been one of the human beings who stood their ground to protect this pioneering group home from attack by suspicious angry neighbors. Daytop Lodge/Daytop village was a successful "self-help" program for drug addicts started by David Deutch. It lead the way to popular acceptance of programs based on the AA 12 step idea. The members of "CrossRoads" CYF of Immanuel Union Church, Westerleigh to linked hands with other citizens to provide a safety barrier and to show support for the program. If we do not stand up for our brothers and sisters, the world will be a place of things not humans.
