We have a group home for boys who were adjudicated delinquent or in need of supervision on our block. Some of the neighbors took racist, righteous or economic arguments to the other neighbors to block the establishment of the group home. The home has been here for 20 years and none of these fears materialized. In fact property values went up up up, because the home was a big house that stayed empty and un-sold until the boys moved in. The same prejudiced neighbors (at least those that stayed here) occasionally ask whether the home ever got started. They didn't even notice!
