Glad to see the StatNislanders getting up to the speed of the pre-Socratic Greeks. Those are the ones who were waiting around for Socrates to straighten 'em out; that's why they called themselves Pre-Socratics.
At any rate, one of 'em, Pythagoras by name, believed in the transmigration of souls; i.e. they could wander from one life to another. A mystical kind of a guy; also interested in math and music. And beans. A key tenet of his cult was, "no beans." So take it easy on this soul stuff, or someone who left the Island may think you're full of beans.
As to the other question, God creating man in his own image, those old olive eaters had something useful to say also. Think it was Xenophanes who pointed out that if cows could draw, the pictures of their gods would have horns.
