One of my favorite characters, who said one of the best things ever said, is Richard Feynman, the scientist. He said, "The first principle is you must not fool yourself, and remember, you are the e a s i e s t person to fool."
I've seen cases where it appears a child has fooled an adult investigator, say in an accusation of s*xual misconduct, which the investigator buys, because a child is saying it, and how could a child be making something up like that? How does a child fool an adult, I wonder. The answer, in the false cases, is that children don't fool adults, adults fool themselves. -r
PS The website censor rejected this posting for containing offensive matter, until I went back and looked at what I'd said. "S*xual" seems to be the culprit. Can't the SI Web do anything about this foolishness? How can you try to have a discussion fit for adults without having to worry about using the usual words. Why not l e t the kids who have webscreens on their computer simply stay off the website?
