I have noticed that Howard Ave. has become (or has it always been?) a roadway resembling a stock car race to the finish line! If anyone who has any interest in discussing ways to slow things down, can you please submit a response to this message?
It appears that by using Howard Ave., many motorists are finding it a convenient short-cut to avoid the traffic congestion between the expressway and Forest Ave.. However, many drivers who use the Howard short-cut drive way to fast. I have no big problem with pushing the edge of the speed limit from time to time, but when you do it on Howard, you can be taking a drive "on the wild side". Howard has many twists, turns. This can really pose a safety hazard to the drivers, but also to legally parked vehicles and pedestrians who need to cross the street. Icy / wet and the frequent foggy conditions up on the hill even enhance the danger.
My initial thoughts are that a couple blinking caution or traffic lights, say, at the Howard / Stratford and Howard / Greta intersections might help.
Any other suggestions?
Can we organize a group of us to make a petition to the city for something to be done. I am willing to be a part of such a group.
