The SIIAS and the SIHS are not formally related in any way, although William T. Davis was instrumental in the founding of both institutions. There is some overlap in the resources (such as library materials) at the two museums, but, as the names imply, SIIAS is more concerned with art and natural science. SIHS is broadly devoted to the history and culture of Staten Island from the 17th century to the present. We seek to preserve the past, but we are also working to document contemporary life and the issues that concern Staten Islanders today. We welcome any and all input from members of the community.
