As one who considers running the purest form of sport, and cross- country the "purest of the pure"...Hats off to SI runners! I'd love to see a few more stories about SI running on this page. To get things rolling here's a few questions that should open some discussion: (unfortunately, not limited to SI, because I wasn't a runner when I lived there)
1. A few weeks ago, the greatest runner of modern times celebrated his 75th birthday. Who was he? And why is he considered the greatest of modern times? If you think it should be somebody else, tell us why.
2. There are at least 4 "cult" movies that have to do with running. A couple were really popular with the general public, but the others could only be appreciated by a real "mileage or speed workout" freak.
3. In the 40's, 50's and maybe even the 60's one High school stood out
among all others as the "class" of the cross-country scene...which one?
