I'm a former 'Islander who has been away for quite a while. Two weeks
ago I was asked by the Baltimore & Oiho Railroad Historical Society
to conduct some conference programs and write articles about the history
of railroading on the Island. While I am familiar with it, I need to
find more documentation, especially photographs.
To do this right, I need to locate information on early 1800's ferry
services, photos of early boats and of the railroad itself.
I know the S. I. Advance ran a lot of historical photos years ago.
How can I locate good prints of them? Also I need to include photos of
the Island industries served by the railroad. Information on the branch
spurs to Mount Loretto, Proctor & Gamble, Gulfport, Travis and Outerbridge
Crossing/Nassau Smelting. Coal and lumber yards too- Fiore Bros, Dreyer
Lumber, Springstead, etc. Any retired SIRT or other people who wish
to share their memories and information are welcome too! Please respond
to my E-mail address. Thanks for reading! I hope you can help.
