The horrible Willowbrook State School-where human beings were treated like animals.
Beginning in 1979, I worked for a private agency operating a group home in one of the doctor's residences on the grounds. Willowbrook was finally closed in the late 80's. The College of Staten Island is there now-a beautiful campus. You'd never know it was once a "snakepit".
